to agree in theory (business - speak). Stronger than 承る（うけたまわる）.
承知 is what you say when you have heard and understood a business proposal, and you agree with it. It doesn't necessarily mean that you will sign the contract or do whatever the person says; merely that you want to work together with them to accomplish these goals, in theory, after 100 more meetings. 承 (to be told / consent) + 知 (know) = 承知 (to agree in theory)
